Happy New Year!
As I write this it’s the first week of January; by the time my words make it to you we’ll have settled into the month. Maybe by now you have a little taste of the energy of the post-holiday period.
There’s a lot more to discuss, but the energy of 2023 suggests that we have extra support in resolving old issues and karma, and that the pace of change will increase as the year goes on. So, buckle up and take a look around; your fellow humans will all be experiencing this right along with you. It can help to remember that truly, if you’re going through big things it’s likely so are your neighbors, your friends, your co-workers and so on, even as we tell each other “I’m doing great!” and continue to behave as if nothing is different about the world. In reality we are all riding massive waves of change and just knowing this, we can have more compassion for ourselves and others.
The more we can roll with change, the easier it’s going to be: this is what the planets have instructed us for a decade or more. Clinging to the old can be very tempting and for those of us with lots of fixed energy in our horoscope like our Sun or planets in Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio, change can be harder than it is for others.
Astrology helped me make sense of the world when I needed it most. I could see that collective structures were devolving into chaos, and I had a knowing that, as a collective, we were moving toward a time of tremendous instability. That was in the 1980’s. It’s been 20 years since I discovered astrology and, to my amusement, things still don’t make sense and are even more unstable than I imagined, but none of it is a surprise! For that I have so much gratitude for astrology. It’s been the stable thing, the backdrop against which the chaos can be viewed with understanding.
A foundational energy for 2023 is actually a continuation from 2022: if something isn’t based on love, it’s going to change or shift or go away. If we allow ourselves to trust love, it can elevate what’s not working, release it, or surprise us with something else entirely that we didn’t know we needed. The tricky part is letting go. Letting go of expectation is very helpful, as is letting go of resistance. Counterintuitively, resistance keeps us connected to the very energies we don’t want; it doesn’t actually push them out of our field.
I recently read about a woman whose husband kept making thinly-veiled, judgmental remarks about her weight. She finally blew up at him during a family dinner, but afterward when she reached out to a nutritionist and expressed her frustration that she couldn’t stop eating to comfort herself, she was assigned the task of eating a pint of ice cream every day, her “problem food.” Instead of resisting, she was instructed to embrace what was causing her trouble.
It didn’t take more than a day or two for our heroine to discover she only needed a bite or two and soon, that she didn’t actually want ice cream at all. She continued to eat what she wanted without restriction, and slowly but surely she found herself drawn to foods that were supportive to her health and goals.
Haven’t we all heard, “you just have to let go of your attachment” to something and give it room to turn into something else? Here’s where energy tools are so invaluable and so simple. Putting expectation and resistance into roses and blowing them up. You can blow up some competition too; there’s no shortage of that in the human experience! Then you fill in with a gold sun of acceptance, peace, nurturing, ease, permission – whatever you want more of! It makes room for something else but you don’t have to know what; it will become apparent.
The astrologers say if there’s one thing to focus on in these turbulent times, and I talk about it often, it’s faith. Having unquestioning faith, even if you don’t know in what, makes room for miracles, for magic, for the unexpected and even the impossible!
So work those energy tools. If you need to know more, we have a great range of clairvoyant classes and we can teach you to manage your energy with ease, which in turn helps lighten your experience. It’s a great gift to give yourself in a turbulent time!
Happy New Year to all!
