I have been thinking a lot about words and specifically, words we use when we are talking to ourselves. I grew up learning about affirmations from my parents. At one point in my childhood our evening prayer was, “I Like Myself”. My parents wanted us to include liking them and our siblings, too. We didn’t have to use the word “Love”, but we could.
At times I remember not wanting to do this, and definitely not wanting to say I liked one of my siblings, but I did it. At other times I would create a whole list of people I liked because I wanted to delay sleep! Often when I said I liked a sibling but in the moment I really didn’t, I could let it go and the energy would shift. Looking back, I realized my parents’ gift was introducing me to the power of words.
In Psychic Horizons Classes, we often speak about the higher vibration that’s associated with certain words such as Amusement, Love, Permission and Enthusiasm. When you communicate using these words, you attract that energy back to yourself. Many of you might be aware of the research of Dr. Masaru Emoto, who demonstrated the power of words through his photographs of water crystals. He demonstrated that positive words, e.g. “You’re beautiful”, created symmetrical and complete crystals in the water, and negative words, e.g. “You’re a Fool”, created incomplete, deformed crystals. Words do have an energy.
Just for a moment, I want you to close your eyes and think of the word “worry”. Allow yourself to hold that word in your mind, and notice. Notice the energy of “worry”. How do you feel emotionally and physically? Then take some deep breaths and deep exhales, releasing that word and the energy around it. Now take a moment and think of the word “trust”. Allow yourself to hold that word in your mind, and notice. Notice the energy of the word “trust”. How do you feel emotionally and physically? And now take a moment to say, “I trust myself”. Feel the beauty of that energy.
I remember seeing this sentence, “You create the language that creates your life.” I invite you to take some time each day to really pay attention to what words you are saying to yourself. Are you waking up and saying, “grr it’s raining, I don’t want to wake up, I don’t want to do what is planned for the day”? Or are you waking up saying, “what exciting thing will happen today? I feel good.” Write down whatever comes forward in that moment, and notice what words you are using. What is the energy around those words?
You are creating your world each moment. Be aware of your thoughts. Even after a powerful affirmation, notice what you say to yourself. Allow yourself to be conscious of the words you are using and therefore the energy you are creating within you. If words come up that don’t support you, change the words and empower yourself. Every time you release old language that doesn’t empower you, you’re taking a step in creating language that does, in present time. Have fun and discover the power of words!
I find it funny; this is my maiden article for Psychic Horizons Center and I am writing about words! I will also be teaching a workshop on the Power of Words on July 10th at 6:00 p.m. MT. I invite you to come play with us and create empowering affirmations in your life!
Blessings,
Trish
