Good morning! Breathe, and let your eyes close and go within. Send a hello to your mother, wherever she may be, and to Mother Earth on this beautiful (snowy?) spring morning.
On this beautiful Mother’s Day morning, let’s cultivate aspects of the Divine Mother that are ready for renewal within ourselves, following along with the flowers, fresh growth new births and snow that a Rocky Mountain spring offers us! No matter what your gender, Holy Father and Divine Mother express through us. Planetary consciousness is in the process of rebirthing the Mother and renewing the vows of the sacred marriage of masculine and feminine into an entirely new vibration. For the past 2,000 years, the Feminine has been diminished in the push for power over others and intellectual knowing. The result is a planet that has made some amazing leaps, but too many have been made at the expense of our sense of oneness, our connection with the rhythms of life, and our comfort with mystery and paradox.
Areas of life that were once the realm of mother became suppressed and controlled. Sexuality became trite and a tool of manipulation and suppression. Birth became regulated and antiseptic. Death became something to hide and control. Healing became a realm of science. Intuition became repressed and invalidated and the concept of play became guilt-ridden.
These concepts must be honored and opened in each of us in order to facilitate the healing of the planet and the sacred marriage of Divine Mother and Father. This is not against the masculine. Both are needed to have life and creation. But we have seen the results of a world that is divorced from the balancing power of the feminine. By noticing the results of this way of living, we are motivated to restore the Mother/Father balance within ourselves so it can manifest outwardly in thought, word and deed.
The following key foundations of society: sexuality, birth, death, healing, intuition and play were originally of the realm of mother. Then, they were taken over by the realm of rational, scientific thought, or just flat out ignored. There have been amazing movements to bring these areas of society into a more balanced consciousness—the advent of the sexual revolution in the 60s, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and her instruction on humanizing death, the re-emergence of doulas and home-based births. There are now many schools that teach intuition, and alternative healing and prayer are being recognized more and more as being important parts of the healing process. Play is being introduced back into our vocabulary, although many of us still put play on the back burner because of the tremendous guilt that has been instilled in us that taking time to relax, or enjoy ourselves is not okay!
Breathe, and lets give ourselves a healing on each of these areas, inviting a deepened and more mystical understanding of the process of living back into our lives. Let’s acknowledge the aspects of the divine feminine that have been ignored and programmed out of us—the truth of the oneness of all, the natural rhythms of life, and being comfortable with mystery and dichotomy. Without an understanding of these concepts, our world became overly rational, overly structured and overly controlled. Without a deep understanding of Unity, that we are all one, the Golden Rule is ignored and many people are passed over. Without an honoring of the natural rhythms of life, valuable moments and feelings are over-looked and transmutation of energy is stagnant. We have become a society that is impatient and out of touch with the cycles and ebb of flow of life. And without an embracing of the mystical and dichotomy, the truth of our origins and our journey home to love is missed, as we continue to instead focus exclusively on the physical world, too fearful to delve into the mystery, too uncomfortable with the unknown to sit still and simply listen.
As we do a little healing on these qualities for ourselves let’s visualize our beautiful planet with us today, so that as we heal ourselves, we see the planet and all of humanity healing and receiving as well.
Sexuality creates our body personality, our physical temple, in which we evolve as souls. Sexuality also fuels passion, desire and healing. Allow yourself to embrace the mystery of sexuality along with the concept of oneness and unity. How we treat and think of ourselves sexually and how we treat others, impacts all of us. Release invalidation, pain, anger from this space, and allow a fresh perspective to be birthed within you about it. Offer the world permission to open this space back up to spirit, releasing the need for violence, manipulation and suppression. It is a sacred space. Release invalidation towards the body, and any levels where you have not been honored as a body this life. Breathe, see a color for your sexual space and bring it into your space in a gold sun.
Say hello to birth. Not only physical birth, but your ability to birth new ideas, ways of being and ways of perceiving. The spontaneity and innate body wisdom on how to give birth has been restricted. Have it back. Put the energy of birth into a bubble out in front of you. Ground out restrictions, judgment and fear. Allow yourself to birth thoughts and awarenesses that contribute to the greater good of all and lead to loving kindness. Birth within you the fluidity of the divine feminine, embrace the mystery of where we all come from. Release invalidation or effort that was present in your physical birth this lifetime. Release invalidation on your ability to birth new ideas and creations. See a color for birth, bring it into your space in a gold sun.
Say hello to death. Fear of death has resulted in the need to control it. There is little permission to embrace the mystery, and the natural flow and rhythms of life and process. Release energies in your space that make it difficult to have release and change. Embrace the rhythm of life, the mystery of what we are becoming. Have the process of being comfortable with loss, know that it is part of the process, it cannot be controlled. All in the physical world is impermanent. This awareness forces us to seek that which is eternal. Look at a color for death, bring it into you in a gold sun.
Say hello to healing. Have your gifts as a healer, not only what you know or have studied, but the innate healing of your touch, your presence, your thoughts that occur simply because of the miracle of your existence. Know that you are a blessing to the world. Validate your ability to give and receive healing. See it as a flow that emanates from you that does not come from the rational mind. This is not about gender, it’s about being a spirit in a body, being a conduit of healing, tenderness and support to someone in need. See a color for your healing abilities and bring it into your space in a gold sun.
Say hello to your intuition. It is your connection to your heart and knowingness. Clear energies that inhibit your ability to feel, and to communicate to others that which you feel and see intuitively. Give yourself permission to nurture and validate this skill daily through meditation, and live with your connection to spirit as a daily awareness. Validate the gifts that your intuition offers you—the ability to see into challenging experiences and people that you encounter and learn from them, the ability to acknowledge blessings and the opportunities you have to be of service. With this gift, you can see more than another is showing you, and more quickly reach a place of compassion and forgiveness. Look at a color for your gift of intuition, and bring it into a gold sun.
The last is play, is the most important of all! Play holds the secrets of your inner child and a level of vitality, your soul purpose, your hopes and dreams and spontaneity. Play helps you tap into a multi-dimensional life, and it’s usually the first thing we give up in any given moment. Time for relaxing, time to feel child like. Here at the center, it’s called being in kindergarten. Can you have at least an hour a day of play? Through play you access the mystery, create rhythm and embrace oneness. When you play, you offer that energy to the world. Generate permission for yourself and others to laugh, play and lighten up! Release guilt, rigidity and the need to justify time for you. Invite time into your life to let your mind wander, to day dream, to let go of goals and reasons. Look at a color for play. Bring it into your space in a gold sun.
Take a moment and remember play as a child. Remember a moment when you felt carefree, free of judgment, and were immersed in timeless creativity and fun. What was one of your favorite activities as a child? What was the feeling of it? It has not gone anywhere, it is still with you. Now, can you see yourself having the equivalent feeling in present time? Can you see it as a space within you that can be accessed daily? Your child-self feeds your soul purpose, your permission to dream and think out of the adult box of seriousness and responsibility.
Notice what happens when play is introduced back into the concepts of sexuality, birth, death, healing and intuition. It definitely makes it easier to approach them and nurture them, when looked at more from a child’s eyes, than through adult eyes that have been programmed from others because of the fear-based need to control.
Divine Mother offers us the face of God free of judgment and punishment, which are man-made concepts. Judgment and punishment overshadowed the Sacred Feminine face of God, that of ever-present compassion, grace, calm, humor, and patience. Breathe and have this marriage of Divine Feminine and Masculine within you now—that transforming force of endless, unconditional love, that gives you the strength and confidence to go on, no matter what obstacles appear to be in your way.
Give yourself more permission, in this moment to respond to your life and world from this place of love and trust and playfulness. Let it infuse you with a powerful willingness to be a vehicle for love, an instrument of peace, clear in heart and mind of your intent and purpose to serve and love for the benefit of all, in the name of Unity, the sacred rhythms of life, and the mystery.
I’d like to end this message by sharing the entire poem, Mother of the Night, by L. Teish. She wrote this praise poem for the African Goddess, Yemonja, One of the great African goddesses. Yemonja was the daughter of the sea into whose waters she flows. Her breasts were enormous because she mothered so many Yoruban gods. She also is the “mother of the waters”, and gave birth to all the bodies of water in the world.
- Nurturing, feminine, and life-giving, she is the epitome of feminine power. Like the ocean, she can be not only gentle but destructive and torrential as well. She holds the secrets that are within the sea. She can be invoked for issues with childbirth, mothers, fertility, or anything involving women’s issues or women’s mysteries.
Mother of the Night by L. Teish
I am the Mother of the Night.
The Great Dark Depth, the Bringer of Light.
All that was, that is, that ever shall be,
All that could or should can only come from me.
High above and far below, I am the ebb, I am the flow. The
stars in the sky, the fish in the sea. Every seed, every
stone, every critter is me.
I am the Center, the Beginning, the End, I am without and
I am within. I am the lair, the nest, and the den. I am
the Earth, the Water, the Wind.
The Horned Cow, the many-teated Sow, the Queen bee,
the Mothertree, the Pregnant Womb, the Grain-seed
broom, the candle’s wick, the matrix, and woman,
you are my daughter.
Praise and Love to the Mothers of the World.
Praise and Love to the Sisters of the World.
Praise and Love to the Women of the World.
Praise and Love to my daughter.
To the women in the fields, who plow and plant and turn
mill wheels. To those who spin and weave at looms
who make the mats, the cloth and the brooms. To those
who sew the royal robes, to those who pierce the
child’s earlobes. To those who rub and oil and braid.
To all the Queens and all the Maids.
Praise and Love to my daughters.
To those who nurse babes on their breasts, who carry on
without due rest. Then rise up easily as the dawn to
mend the fence and mow the lawn. To those who mix
and stir the pot, to those who bake and clean and
mop, to those who have and who have not.
Praise and Love to my daughters.
Praise and Love to those who seek, to those who know and
those who speak. To those who smile with tender eyes,
whose wisdom penetrates the lies. To those who sing
and those who cry. For those who fight for right and
die! To those who live to ripe old age, to great grand-ma
the family sage. Praise and Love to my daughters.
To those unborn and yet to come, we bid you on with
song and hum. From other worlds and through birth-
water. Come forth child, beloved daughter.
Praise and Love to the Mothers of the World.
Praise and Love to the Sisters of the World.
Praise and Love to the Women of the World.
Praise and Love to my daughter.
Amen.
