You know how you meet someone and you find out they have experiences and feelings and a way of conducting themselves that seems an awful lot like you?
Most people careen recklessly through the world making these connections regularly, but usually not aware of it. Those of us in the psychic world know that we’re experiencing “matching pictures” that we have with another person and it’s kind of a fun way to look at yourself in real time, playing out right in front of your eyes.
I used to play this fun game when I’d feel judgmental toward another person. You know, like “she’s so negative”, hands on hips and all that. Or, “how much attention does he need, anyway,” I’d think. That one is more effective if you roll your eyes. Sometimes I’d haul out the versatile “you gotta be kidding me”. As I grew in awareness as a spirit, it began to occur to me, uh-oh, I’m negative. Or, I’d see how I might be seeking attention in ways that weren’t that great. Looking for myself in others became a regular, useful tool in my arsenal.
Someone in the therapy world once coined the phrase, “if you spot it, you got it.” I throw it around freely but other people don’t find the concept as marvelous as I do. It seems to make people mostly cranky but maybe they’re just close-minded, (she said, judgmentally. See how that works?)
Sometimes, other people and their way of walking through the world are who you aspire to be! We don’t just attract our own lower vibrations in other people. Sometimes, witnessing someone wonderful in action is validation of who we already are. Other times, it’s something to reach for and the message is, you can be this capable, beautiful, warm, loving and creative, too! It’s within, you just have to let it out.
When you combine the concept of matching pictures with a psychic reading, it gets really interesting because the matches can be unexpected and surprising. They create ‘aha’ moments and plenty of opportunity for self-reflection. When I did a lot of animal communication work I’d start reading the pet and I’d think, so this is what I’m working on! The more aware I became, the more obvious the match was.
One of my favorite matching pictures stories is of a reading in the Clairvoyant program. We were three readers in a line and it was my turn to read a chakra layer. I saw the readee in a foxhole, furiously shoring it up with bricks. As she labored away I saw that her head poked out of the hole. Periodically something would fly directly at her, fast. She would duck to avoid the thing then go back to her work. Sometimes she’d look back at the vanishing object and shake her head, relieved that she hadn’t been hit.
As the reading went on, it became apparent that the flying things were actually stacks of money, bundled together with a paper strip like at the bank. Sometimes they came at her with great speed and other times it was slower, more gentle. But fly at her they did, with regularity. She just kept ducking. She was determined.
I told her, “wow, you’re really good at avoiding money!” The whole line and the readee burst out laughing. Every one of us had a matching picture, and it was a great source of amusement for the rest of the reading and into the closing meditation. The readee was facing some life-changing decisions but couldn’t manage to take action because she didn’t have the money to fund them. The reading suggested that money is actually plentiful, and available, if one takes the time to notice it.
It might not make perfect sense to the body in the moment, but even if it doesn’t, the Spirit gets it. For each of us, who, like many, have abundance pictures, the lesson came in a little differently, but the gist of the thing was the same: give yourself permission to be abundant, then pay attention to what comes to you!
As always, we’re available to help you learn the tools to grow your awareness of yourself as a spirit in a body. It’s fun! If you don’t feel like you have the resources, I have it on authority that abundance is our birthright and we can reclaim it whenever we’re ready.
Have a great week and many blessings on your journey!
