Hello! Let your eyes close, take a deep breath, and let yourself heal during today’s message! When meditating on a theme for today, I saw something light was in order for this beautiful summer’s day, and creativity came up!
Imagine some of the sights you have seen today. In your mind’s eye, see some images full of the colors and shapes, sounds and feelings. Know that what you looked at today is the result of your awareness. All of it, the natural world, your home, food and this room we are sitting in right now! We create the fabric of our lives. What we see, hear, taste, and experience is woven from the multiple strands of attention and feeling that we emit. Whether we choose to or not, we are constantly creating every second of our lives.
Thus, we hear a lot about noticing our thoughts and emotions as a way to assist us in creating and attracting the circumstances and experiences we desire.
It is quite overwhelming sometimes, because so much out there demands our attention and influences our thoughts and vibration. But having access to your creativity space is a great way to maintain all the work you have done with managing your thoughts and feelings in a healthy way. Creativity allows us an endless reservoir of options and awareness to draw from as we paint the life that best reflects our truth. Access to our creativity prevents us from responding in old worn out patterns learned from family, society and mass consciousness that we are wanting to separate from. Our creativity allows us to be an empowered and confident individual.
When a dictator comes into power, the first thing they squelch is the creativity and culture of the people. With no encouragement to explore their creativity, imagination and connection to divinity, joy and empowerment are diminished and dull people are the result. Our school systems tend to stifle creativity, and so do many religions. Bottom line, dull, unimaginative people are much easier to control! But I don’t think you fall into the dull category! How many creative ways did you come up with to drive your parents crazy? No one enjoys being here at the center unless they, too, are brimming with creativity and excited to tap into it even more!
We are in a supersonic hyper-informational time in humanity, which can be wonderful. Sometimes it entrains our attention onto things we don’t really want it to, so it’s important to clear and tap into our personal creative essence to maintain our path of healing and growth!
Creativity is our expression of ourselves as spirit, and it is essential in our evolution. It is an experience of God’s expression working through us, and it is our gift back to God! As systems disintegrate around us, they need to be rebuilt from love, not the original energy they were created in. We are watching money, health, education and food systems collapse around us, to name a few. And in our personal lives, you know the changes you are dealing with. We are learning to love more, trust more and tap into unity awareness as we live life. We are constantly reweaving the fabric of our awareness, every second. Each moment is brand new, as we adjust to how we perceive the world, our lives and each other. We use our creativity to create our vision!
Staying clear in our creative space contributes to our ability to hold love and compassion in our awareness and respond to our environment in a way that reflects our true beliefs. Our vision of a new world may stay consistent from day to day, month to month, but our perspectives and resources we have to draw on are constantly changing.
Some days our emotions are on edge, other days our amusement might be down the toilet. Some days we don’t feel that great physically, or we experience anxiety and it isn’t easy to see things in positive a light. We see the news, we have a tough day at work, we have communication problems with a friend, we miss an appointment.
That is where creativity comes in handy! Creativity is really just our spirit wanting to manifest and be seen in the world! It helps us whether creating a poem or garden, a meal or a painting, or when we are seeking a creative response and awareness to a problem we are experiencing or a disturbing episode on the news.
People often see creativity as something that needs to produce something great or make money. But that is far from the truth. Years ago I was out watching some live music at a small restaurant. The musicians were having a blast, and it was such a joy to watch them. For some reason I had a wonderful realization of the saying that if only the best birds sang in the forest it would be really quiet! If creativity was expressed only because we were like Meryl Streep, Anne Lamott, Picasso, Barbra Streisand or Ansel Adams, there wouldn’t be nearly so much for us to enjoy! Because of that moment, I decided to learn cello and how to oil paint. I have not quit my day job, but music and art are therapeutic for me and help me to maintain more joy and confidence in my vibration! When I am in a creative process, time stands still, and my focus is in tune with the moment. It is a great meditation and I take take present-time vibe with me throughout the rest of my day, similar to when I do yoga or go for a hike!
It is fun to share our creative side with others, it is a gift! No matter what! Every now and then I get a weird little gift from my mom in the mail. She has gone to a fair to play her fiddle, and has met someone making crocheted scarves or necklaces, and she wants to support the person and sends me the item. I may not wear it much, but I love the energy of it! Heck, if only the master knitters made things, there wouldn’t be any scary crocheted clowns to see or fancy toilet paper covers! If only the best artists created art, there would be no black velvet paintings or millions of kitten pictures that plaster Facebook!
Did you know that there really is a Museum of Bad Art? It is a privately owned museum in Massachusetts whose stated aim is “to celebrate the labor of artists whose work would be displayed and appreciated in no other forum”. It is really fun to look at the art that has been accepted into it! It really has to be a certain great kind of bad to be accepted. Check it out online! (People are honored to be in it, it is not mean! Sometimes someone sends their work to be admitted and are sad when it isn’t accepted!)
Think of the creativity that abounds in our world. Nature, architecture, furniture, clothes, music and sounds, inventions, toys, tastes and smells! Creativity abounds and I don’t think it’s an accident that so many healers are also artists, and are more open-minded to new ways of seeing the world and caring for each other! Our creative, spiritual self is fearless and loves diversity!
Imagine a bubble out in front of you and remember yourself in a fun creative moment as a child. Were you in nature, or coloring, or playing a game with friends? Let the fun feeling and energy of that moment fill the bubble. See colors in it. What did you love to create as a child? Did you have an imaginary friend? You may remember a number of fun creative moments. Let this bubble fill and resonate with that fun, spontaneous energy of creativity, before it got edited and aspects of your uniqueness got programmed out of you.
Now, would you give yourself permission to release any energy in your space that wants to limit your access to that pure creative flow. Release fear of making a mistake, fear of not being good enough. Release fear of hurting someone by being creative. Sometimes we neglect our creativity because we unconsciously don’t want to be too happy or creative, because someone we know can’t handle it.
Breathe, release, and let this bubble of creative energy in front of you brighten and grow. Release competition and the need to compare your creativity to someone else’s. There may be someone you admire who you want to emulate or learn from, but set this space so that your personal vision is senior! No one creates like you, you contribute a unique expression to wherever you are; in a quiet moment, in social moments, even while you are asleep and dreaming!
Let this beautiful bubble of your creativity come up into you gold sun over your head and bring it into your space. Fill your cells, your chakras, your entire aura bubble with this energy. Breathe. Admire yourself as creator.
Next, mock up another bubble in front of you for your creative space, and let this be your vision of creativity as sacred. It is essential to your spiritual well being. It is your expression of divinity that flows forth to create your art, your voice, your cooking, your movement, your problem-solving at work, your relationships. This is a sacred space. Release any energies out of your space that wants to make this sacred space optional or a space that is only okay if it makes money, or produces something concrete. Release any energy that says your expression is not spiritual or is not important in this world. Create space within you to be a container for your sacred spirituality and creativity, no matter what you are doing! See the vibration or this sacred creative bubble out in front of you getting brighter. From the center of your head, send love and enthusiasm to this space. Bring it up into your gold sun and fill in with it, each cell, each chakra, and your entire aura bubble.
When you look at the world, you are seeing a patchwork of images and colors, sounds and vibrations. Although seemingly solid, it is all an illusion, it is all mainly space. Your attention creates this world, and though it may look similar to you and the person next to you, what you see is responding to you, as a creator. This is a powerful place to reside!
Your world is your canvass, with your spiritual energy the medium to create with on the canvas of life. On your journey, how wonderful it is to have access to this sacred place, and value it, treasure it, utilize it so that when you are in a situation where life has thrown you a curve ball, that creative spirit is there, ready to be used and applied!
Creativity is used when we do our art, when we are work, when we are in our relationships. It is also used to help with trauma and tough times! I watch people every day handling intense pressures around finances, health, loss and major life changes. When they use their creativity to help with a challenge, they can see things differently, come up with a new solution or awareness to help them move on in their life with more grace and ease.
Having access to our creativity allows us to move out of our head and into action. That means you need to be active in your creativity and cultivate it, so that when you really need it, it is there! In good time and bad, when you get good news or bad news. I really admire friends and people I work with who have big challenges, health wise, money wise, whatever is going on. Whether disabled, or dealing with Parkinson’s or loss of a loved one, I love seeing the human spirit of each person and the caring people around them come into action and demonstrate what amazing beings we truly are.
Most people are aware of the poem style called Haiku. I recently read that it was perfected by a Japanese poet who became bedridden. But he could drag himself to the window or door and look at nature. He would sit and meditate on a plant or scene or aspect of what he saw, and let himself be inspired to write some words in the poem’s format of 17 syllables and three lines.
They style has been used in this country by poets for years, and in the 70s Jack Kerouac simplified it to, “say a lot in 3 short sentences.” Here are some examples of his: (they are each three lines long)
Alone, in old
clothes, sipping wine
Beneath the moon
clothes, sipping wine
Beneath the moon
Early morning gentle rain,
two big bumblebees
Humming at their work
The little worm
lowers itself from the roof
By a self shat thread
Bluejay drinking at my
saucer of milk,
Throwing his head back
Men and women
Yakking beneath
the eternal void
I went in the woods
to meditate –
It was too cold
The sound of silence
is all the instruction
You’ll get
So for fun, we are each going to write a Haiku, breathe, this is not high school, there will be no grade. It’s just to be spontaneous, jump start a new level of creativity that’s ready to be utilized in your life, wherever it’s needed!
So breathe, the only rule is you will write only three lines and they don’t even have to be complete sentences! Now, imagine and see in your mind’s eye something you enjoy. A scene in nature, a plant, a pet, an item in your house. Maybe there is something in the center in this room you want to look at, or in another room. Go ahead and find something, and just see it and be with it. Breathe and let go of having to do anything. Let three lines of words that this thing inspires in you or says to you, emerge and just write it on your paper. Next, take some crayons, and use your inner child artistry and draw some shape, symbols or images that you are inspired to put down on this same paper in this moment. Doodle, or whatever you want to do! There are lots of crayons…pass them around or let me know if you want another color! Breathe and if you feel stuck, let that energy go and just be in the flow of creation!
Now pass these to me. I will read some.
Go back into your meditative space. Notice how you feel, what is different within you since when you arrived! Be aware of your creative juices and flow, in whatever way you are experiencing it! It could be a peaceful feeling or energized feeling. It will always be different from moment to moment!
Now imagine one more bubble in front of you, and put in it the thing you would do if you didn’t have to do it perfectly. No matter what it is…. artistically, what would you create? Or an adventure you go on or job change or a relationship. What is something that you have wanted to do but you just think you can’t do it? Saying to ourselves that we can’t do something really means, “I am afraid to do it.” Or, “I am afraid to try and not do it perfectly.” So, let go of the fears of doing this thing in your bubble! Maybe you want to travel to Paris and you don’t have funds, but they can come to you! Or, you will bring Paris to you in some fashion! Let go of the negative thoughts and fears. Bring your sacred, creative awareness to this bubble. See it brighten and grow! Really feel in you how great it would feel to do this thing. Smile. Breathe. Bring this bubble into your space with ease and grace.
The world loves your contributions to creation, large and small. Know that you are appreciated and blessed with the resources to create more fully and spontaneously every day! Say to yourself, “I am the Creator of the Universe!” Feel it, experience it! As you are ready, open your eyes and come out of trance. Would you say hello to someone near you? Introduce yourself, and let them know you write Haiku and do….. what? What was in your last mock up? Amen.
