This is a time of revelations. There are no more secrets. The Haiti earthquake reveals to the world, once again, the shame of fellow humans allowed to live in poverty and starvation.

I feel moved to dedicate my article to someone special. This one is for Eric, my husband’s son. He is an environmental engineer in Panama, developing ways to keep raw sewage out of the ocean as well as providing clean drinking water. He is the kind of man you want to know; with a great sense of humor, adventurous, and his word means everything.
Eric chooses to do the right things in life because that is what should be done. He works hard, doesn’t make a lot of money, but has the immense satisfaction of having made a difference in the world...I have always liked Eric and have enjoyed getting to know him more over the years.
