Watching Mars

ust when it seems like the world can't move any faster or feel more intense, we get a visit from the planet Mars. The astrologers know more about this than I do, but I am watching the effects of having the planet Mars be closer to the earth than it ever has before.  In a word, intensity!  Mars is the energy planet, in a word the catalyst that makes things happen.  It takes Mars an average of 55 days to move through one sign into another.  Mars is in Aries now and will be moving into Taurus in August. When Mars is in Aries, it is a strong position for activity requiring courage and aggressiveness, especially for people like soldiers, policeman, fireman and fighters.  We have been in this place of fight first and discuss it later.  Aries moves on impulse and can be aggressive! Notice if you have felt this energy in your everyday communications with people. I see people flying off the handle instead of thinking about what they are actually saying or the consequences of their actions. That is good old Mars intensity.

In August it moves into Taurus, the planet that governs the five senses of the body. Here it becomes more grounded, gives practical qualities, quiet ambition, quick wit and foresight. Not usually deterred or thwarted by obstacles, people work persistently where self-interests are concerned, gaining the desired end through tact and diplomacy. Here is the aspect that allows hard work to manifest in abundance, money on the table and the senses all being satisfied. We will move from aggression into harvest.  A pleasant change from the fight mentality back to grounded reality!

I like to be aware of astrological aspects, and while I don't check them all the time, I do try to be aware of when we are in an active period. Mars being so close to earth set the stage for the violence in London and other cities in the world. It is so hard to try and understand these violent acts and cope with them. I do believe holding love in our hearts and compassion for all helps those who died ease their transition.

I use the practice of grounding, or centering, when the world feels like it is spinning out of control. I connect my body to the earth and release the waves of fear and sadness that are generated when violence is played out in the world. I choose to hold my light brighter, helping others who have not yet learned that violence is never the answer, find another way to express their frustration and anger.

I try to remember we are right on track, the healing is happening, and that we will come brightly into the light, all together. Floating, instead of fighting, holding light instead of matching the fear and desperation. I release control and know that it is the hand of the Source that guides us, even when it feels like that guidance has disappeared. It is faith, trust and love that steer my boat, even as it goes through the rapids. Breathe and let love guide your life. To me, there is just no other way. Namaste.
