riting about Hawaii seems appropriate since I just returned from the Big Island. It was a wonderful trip for rejuvenation and separating myself from the hubbub of daily life!

Often the word "aloha" is associated with Hawaii. Used as "hello" or "goodbye", it actually means a lot more. It represents a vibration to be in from moment to moment to solve any problem that comes along. There is a large group agreement on the Big Island to keep that energy alive, and if you add to that the powerful energy of Pele, the goddess of the volcano, there's constant permission to change and grow, heal and manifest while on the island. So, if you visit, or call the energy of the island to you  in a meditation while here, be careful what you ask for because it will come true!

Aloha's deeper meaning is 'the joyful sharing of life energy in the present."  One of the keys to this is the awareness of sharing this energy.  The secret to manifesting in this Hawaiian way is not just about being in joy or being in the lifeforce of the present, itıs sharing it. In a small booklet called "The Aloha Spirit" by Serge King, author and shaman, he spells this out simply. "Bless everyone and everything that represents what you want."  He continues: "To bless something means to give recognition or emphasis to a positive quality, characteristic or condition, with the intent that what is recognized or emphasized will increase, endure or come into being.

"Blessing is effective in changing your life or getting what you want for three reasons: First of all, the positive focus of your mind stirs up the positive, creative force of the Power. Secondly, it moves your own energy outward, allowing more of the Power to come through you. Thirdly, when you bless for the benefit of others instead of directly for yourself you tend to bypass any subconscious fears about what you want for yourself, and also the very focus on the blessing acts to increase the same good in your life. What is so beautiful about this process is that the blessing you do for others helps them as well as you. Blessing may be done with imagery or touch, but the most usual and easy way to do it is with words."

I first learned about this Hawaiian blessing way of aloha 8 years ago on my first journey to Hawaii. I've been practicing it ever since, and that's what it takes, practice!

Try it for a day and see what happens! It means noticing when your mind goes to a negative thought or something that is the opposite of blessing - criticizing, blaming, worrying, or doubting. All of these can cancel out the effects of your blessing. But if you're spending a lot of time blessing, the less  effects your negative thoughts will have, so keep on doing the blessings! Bless all signs of health, happiness, prosperity, success, confidence, love and friendship, inner peace and spiritual growth that you see. And find creative ways to turn your negative thoughts into blessings. If I see an erratic driver, I often have a negative thought first, but turn it into a blessing: "I bless his ability to drive in a safe and grounded way."

Bless all and everything and watch some positive changes happen in your life! Aloha!
