friend recently told me she had fallen out of her groove and couldn't find herself again. She was having a hard time getting back on track and wondered if I had any suggestions for what she could do. Her question was not unusual, as all of us lose our way from time to time.

Here are some easy steps to find yourself if you are feeling lost.

First thing in the morning when you wake up, and your conscious awareness comes back to your body, say “hello” to your body and tell it you love it. Remember that we are all learning and wherever you are is part of your process. When we can begin to love ourselves and find compassion for whatever life situation we are experiencing, then we can begin to make changes. Love heals all wounds, while self-critical energy just slows us down. After awhile this morning greeting becomes automatic and you will feel joy each time you return to the body after your dream space.

Next, ground your body by making an energy connection from the base of your spine to the center of the earth. You can imagine a giant redwood tree, an anchor, a chain or any strong connection that is as wide as your hips. This anchors the body to the planet and makes the body feel safe and real. When you are grounded it makes it easier for the body to release any roadblocks you have unconsciously created that makes change harder to manifest.

Many times when we are in a state of transition, everything feels up in the air and not steady like we are used to. This is all part of making changes. Change is necessary for growth. Just like the cycles in nature, we all move through the birth, season of being and death or completion of our projects. In the closing, we may become anxious because we are unsure of the next cycle and how it will unfold. I find it helpful to reassure my body and mind that we are on an adventure and how it all unfolds is part of the journey. I don't have to have all the answers, all I have to do is enjoy the adventure. Being gentle and curious instead of critical makes the adventure so much more fun. Give yourself plenty of room to discover new facets of yourself and grow. Mistakes are all part of the learning and should be expected!

Another tool I find helpful is a good sense of humor. Sometimes we take ourselves so seriously, and take everything as a personal affront. This just keeps us tense and unable to enjoy the adventure of life. One way to tell if you are fully engaged in your life is to notice if you are in the moment, or back in the story of your life. If you are viewing things from the past, it is hard to make changes and grow. At some point, we need to let go of the past and recognize we can't change it, fix it, heal it or solve it. All we can really do is to live now, right in this moment. This is where we have the power to create and make changes. Letting go and deciding to just live is so freeing. You can start over any time. All you have to do is breathe and begin. The magic of now awaits you. What will you decide? What groove do you want to create in? It is all up to you. Namaste.
