The number one resolution that needs to be made is that you love yourself enough to live your life in a way that is honest and loving towards yourself. If this resolution is followed through with, and you remind yourself of it from time to time, then all other resolutions will have an easier time coming to fruition in your life. So, if you want to exercise more, you have to honestly believe that it benefits you and know that it's a loving thing for your body to have some regular exercise, what ever form that takes. And if it's an honest resolution, you will set it up in a truthful way that makes sense in relationship to your life, time considerations, and whatever other considerations you have. Then, when you exercise, your body feels loved. It may not feel loved until after the exercise is over, but it's the feeling the body experiences that says, "That was good for me, I feel good, therefore it would be loving to make it a regular part of my life." This type of resolution will work with anything, but takes your own conscious reminder to stay effective. Write yourself notes on your mirrors and calendars! Resolutions that fail do so because we aren't convinced that we're loveable and worth the change we want to make. If we believed that, we would just do the thing or quit the unhealthy activity. We typically pick on the bad habit instead, wanting it to hide and go away. Or, we focus only on the new behavior we want to see, without healing the foundation within us that will allow success to occur. You can also check your resolutions and make sure they're realistic for you and truly your own desire. Often we create a resolution to make someone else happy or proud of us. But satisfaction must be actually felt and processed by us personally before it becomes a realized part of us. Another thing to consider is how much time you spend comparing yourself to others, or to who you used to be. I used to be a bicycle racer and it wasn't unusual for me to ride my bike a hundred miles a week or more. Years and some ski injuries later, that's not a realistic physical level for me to aspire to! Now, I love hiking and yoga. I do them for me. Check your resolutions and heal them. Sit in a chair with your eyes closed. Visualize each resolution in a bubble in front of you. Connect the bubble to the center of the earth with a water fall to ground out all false considerations and foreign energy. Now fill the resolution with your energy of joy and ownership. This resolution reflects your value. You are worth honesty, loving attitudes and activities that contribute to your happiness. Let change be a fun process in your life! A goal is experienced for a heartbeat, but who you are being from moment to moment is experienced 24-hours a day! -Rev. Hope Hewetson Rev.
