For thousands of years, the last day of October and first of November have been recognized as the time the veil between the living and the dead grows thin, and we of flesh and bone can communicate with our more etheric ancestors. Throughout Spanish speaking countries they celebrate "The Day of the Dead", and the cemeteries are full of families picnicking among the graves and leaving food and drink for those who've gone before. In Wicca (an ancient earth-based religion) they celebrate Samhain, welcoming and feasting the spirits of the dead. This makes October a great time to ponder, with amusement, which little ghosties partied too long and got stuck on our side of the veil - and is that one of them in the corner of that creepy closet? My family had a house ghost when I was growing up. My father named him Charlie and he was the one to blame when pictures fell off the walls in the middle of the night, when the dog would inexplicably spook and run to the other room, when doors would creak open or slam shut and occasionally when the last piece of pie would mysteriously disappear. He wasn't scary, he was just there. Sometimes my dad would feel a chill across his shoulders, shudder, and avow that Charlie had just passed by. I thought every body had a ghost! My friends soon let me know that their homes were ghostless, but they loved spending the night at our house in hopes that Charlie would "perform". Ghosts do exist. They are the Spirits of human beings who have become trapped on the physical plane, perhaps because of unfinished business or not being able to let go. They are often confused and almost always happy to be hooked up to the Supreme Being and returned to the Spirit realm. When we do house healings, I find that ghosts are a little rare (does that make a ghost "medium" rare?). More often if there is something in our space it is stuck emotional or mental energy, or other disembodied beings that are curious about our activities or just looking for a cozy place to live. All of these energies can be cleared from your living space, allowing you to set the energy of your home how you want it. So, who you gonna call? That's right! The house healing crew from Psychic Horizons! Kate deLaGrange heads up the House Healings at Psychic Horizons. Specially trained clairvoyants will either come to your location or work remotely and send you a tape. For more information or to set an appointment call her at (303) 494-1436. -Rev.
