"Your most painful emotions show you what you are most resistant to changing. They point out that 'life classes' on what we think of as negative emotions, contain exactly what we need to remedy an illness that has grown both chronic and acute. One that has lasted a long time and is very painful. Studying life lessons doesn't mean reading about it, discussing it or writing about it. It means looking inside yourself. This happens when you see that you, and not other people, are the cause of your emotions. "Looking inward instead of focusing on outward circumstances is an important step in the process of spiritual development. When you are not aware that your body is hurting you can not do anything about it. If you do nothing, the pain continues. The cause is the release of energy in doubt and fear. It is the experience of the individual who fears that she is inadequate and doubts she should be on earth. Her creativity goes into the construction of defenses against others, against knowing herself and against life. "When energy leaves your system in love and trust, it produces physical sensations of love and trust. You are relaxed and your body feels good. Your step is light and laughter comes easily. You do not feel painful sensations in your body because there are none. "You are grateful. You accept. You are appreciated. You look for ways to contribute. You care about others. You care about life. You are in awe of life, and are thankful to be a part of it. "You cannot create a life of fulfillment, joy and meaning while you are barricading yourself from others and the opportunities that life offers you. This is what happens when your energy leaves your energy system in doubt and fear. Think about it!" I loved this book the first time I read it and highly recommend it as a great reminder when life gets intense and we forget just what we choose to take on this lifetime. Breathe in love and breath out fear. Doubt and fear just are ways of showing us which chakra has pain in it and offer us the opportunity to go within and clear it out. It is easiest when we listen and act upon it. It becomes hard when we keep getting the same message but resist it or keep putting it off, hoping it will go away. That is when it becomes chronic and manifests in illness or in a way we can no longer ignore. If you need an emotional kick-start for issues you have been holding onto, run out and grab a copy of their book. I think you will be surprised how insightful it is. It takes great courage to look inside yourself and do the work. The love and joy you feel afterwards makes it all worthwhile. Namaste. -Rev. Mary Bell Nyman |
