I  worry about my daughter constantly. I worry if she eats right, if she gets enough sleep and if she hangs out with the right people," said a recent readee. I then explained that her constant worry sent waves of invalidation towards her daughter. This wasn't her intent, but her worry sends the message that something was wrong with her - that somehow she is incapable of taking care of herself.

Ann, the daughter, responds by resisting her mom and feels like Mom tries to control her life. Ann is in her last year of college, makes good grades, supports herself, and lives several hours from home. She would go home more often but since she always feels judged by her mom, she tends to stay away and spend her time with her friends. I think this scenario is all too familiar.

What happens to most of us is we feel the energy. I explained to this mom, that each time she thought of her daughter, to see her surrounded by a soft gold light and to say, "My daughter is taking good care of herself. I send her love and blessings." She learned to catch herself when she started to worry and to think positive thoughts about her daughter, who actually was doing just fine.

Amazing things started to happen to this family. Ann started calling her mother just to chat more often and invited her mom up to visit. Within two months, their relationship began to turn around, and the closeness they once felt started to bloom again.

It is so easy to catch ourselves worrying about things outside of our control. When we worry, we feed the energy of negativity. When we switch and see things as whole and healed and working, we validate the positive reality. Both realities exist, it is a matter of choosing which one we will feed. We give our energy to the outcome we prefer.

Switching from worry to joy can take some practice but the outcome is so worth it. We can begin by saying hello to the peace that exists already on Earth and giving it room to grow. See the air and waters clean and unpolluted and visualize the earth as healed and whole. See a world full of harmony instead of fear, and all peoples everywhere as connected, each full of Divine love.

Start being easier on yourself. Take time to appreciate all you have contributed to this world, be it little or big. Pause to drink in nature, and relish a sunset or a new spring flower. Smile at each person you meet and pretend they are the Buddha, the Christ, the goddess, the source of all. Feel open-hearted with love pumping through your veins and have the freedom to laugh right out loud. Buy a kite and be a kid again. Love and celebrate what an incredible life we all have. Choose to love, no matter what.

As the man said, "Don't worry, be happy!" Live it day-by-day and see how we can change this world!. Namaste.
