With such huge transitions, a lot of fear can arise as we start to ask the big questions. What is my next job? Where should I look for a job? What am I supposed to be doing? What am I going to do? Asking these questions like they are problems, you won'€™t really get the answers you seek. People often want to hear: "You need to go into nursing, look in Tuesday's paper, or go to a service." They want one way to do it. But if you truly want to find what you are looking for, you must look inside and ask yourself. If you would like to change your current job or create a new one, you can follow what I call the job recipe. First, ask yourself what you are good at. List all of these out on a piece of paper. Are you good with people, problems or children? Are you great at organization? Are you good at traveling, cleaning, speaking, fixing things? Are you good at sports? List as many as you can. Next, list out what you would like to learn about in life. Honestly ask yourself, "What am I interested in?" Do you want to learn how to be wealthy? Do you want to learn about sea life, or astronomy, or heading up a big corporation? Do you want to learn a second or third language or learn about art, animals, being more loving? Then you can make a list of what you would like out of a job besides a paycheck. Would you like new friends? Would you like to travel, or get to see great shows, further your current education? Do you want to work part time, at night, seven days a week? Do you want a salary, to get paid once a month, or bi-weekly? How much money do you want to bring home? Once you have your answers don't be surprised if things start to change. We are constantly creating, be it better or worse, so you may as well choose better. You don't have to worry about how it will happen, just be willing to allow it to happen by letting your path unfold for you. You can have the happiness and security you want. Honor the gifts that you have and the things you can do, because when you share them, they can change the world! -Rev. Krista Socash |
