I've have been watching the crocus stems pop their heads through the soil and stand bravely in the cold. Their vivid colors herald the beginning of spring and I am full of gratitude! The crocus tell us that warm weather is around the corner and that the harshness of winter is soon coming to an end. They give us hope that life will begin again. Just like new leaves will bloom on the trees, we all get to start over in this cycle of life. Spring fills us with the excitement of this new beginning. Each year I wonder what I will discover about myself. I wonder what lessons I will choose to learn and how I will make a difference in the world around me. I like to look back on last year, take what I learned, and use it to help me take a step forward in the coming year. Last year my dad died and I worked feverishly to finish cycles, complete old karma, and hold forgiveness so I could begin again brand new. That new moment is now. With a clean slate in front of me, I ask myself, what is next? How can I use my talents to bring forth love and gratitude in the everyday world? Like most of us, I will never be a Mother Teresa or a Gandhi. I will never reach public acclaim or be featured on the Tonight Show. But what can I do each day to be all that I am? For me, it all begins with being in gratitude. I look around me and find the joy in each moment. By being fully myself no matter where I am or who I am with, I am grateful to be alive and in this awesome world. I feel privileged to be able to shine my light and help people find more understanding of theirs. Even in the chaos of someone calling me on the phone with a crisis, I ground and center myself and find my neutrality. As I listen to their problems, I look clairvoyantly to see how I can minister to them. I’ve always believed that if you heal the spirit of a person, that person will heal their own body. Each of us are given different challenges. By drawing on our internal strength, we can find the answers we need. It isn’t always a neat and tidy package! Life is messy and full of contradictory decisions. Having someone look clairvoyantly at the issues helps people separate the forest from the trees. Identifying what they can learn from each side of the coin allows them to make their own decision, and move forward with their life. All of us have made bad decisions from time to
time—that is how we learn. Remember that everything you have learned has led you
to this moment in time. You couldn’t be who you are without it. Accept the
learning and living with gratitude. This allows you to honor all of those
who have been on the journey with you. What a dance it continues to be!
Namaste.
